Acer is bringing a laptop that offers a glasses-free 3D display experience, called the ConceptD 7 SpatialLabs edition, starting at EUR 3599.
According to Acer, the latest update to their SpatialLabs 3D tech allows people to convert and display 2D content into stereoscopic 3D, including videos, images, games, and webcam feed during a video call. The new ConceptD 7 laptops are aimed to cater to those dealing with 3D modelling software, including CAD, and developers.
The ConceptD 7 SpatialLabs edition laptop by Acer is powered by an 11th-Gen Intel Core H-series processor with GPU options including Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080. The laptop supports up to 64GB DDR4 RAM and 2TB NVMe PCIe SSD storage.
The main attraction of this 3D-rendering laptop, its display, is a 4K UHD unit, boasting a wide range of colour range, including 100% of Adobe RGB gamut and Delta E<2 colour accuracy rating. This indicates what creators see on the laptop’s stereoscopic 3D display is what the final render should show.

The SpatialLabs software is a combo of hardware and software tools that make 3D viewing without glasses possible.
The stereoscopic 3D display is supported by a set of stereo cameras, housed above the screen, that track the viewer’s eyes and head to display 3D content. The 3D display is a result of two different images — each refracted to a different eye — projected through an optical lens bonded to the display’s panel.
SpatialLabs supports all major 3D file formats, and creators can convert existing 3D models to stereoscopic 3D by importing them to SpatialLabs Model Viewer. Creators can also adjust lighting, textures and HDRI backgrounds using the Model Viewer tool, which is also offered as an add-on for eight 3D software suits, including Autodesk Fusion 360, Rhinoceros, and Zbrush.
The laptop can also be used with an extended 2D screen, where creators can create or edit the content on a 2D monitor and view the changes in real-time stereoscopic 3D on the SpatialLabs laptop.

While the price tag is clearly premium, this kind of tech can’t be expected to come for cheap, especially during its launch to market.
As mentioned above, the Acer ConceptD 7 SpatialLabs edition starts at €3,599 and will be available in Africa, Europe and Middle East in December. The laptop will also launch in North America in 2022.
ConceptD 3 lineup expanded
Acer has also expanded the ConceptD 3 lineup, which includes new 16-inch clamshell models with a 16:10 aspect ratio, and new convertible ConceptD 3 Ezel models with a 15.6-inch display.
The new 16-inch ConceptD 3 starts at $1699 and ConceptD 3 Pro starts at $1899. The 15.6-inch ConceptD 3 Ezel starts at $1899 and ConceptD 3 Ezel Pro will start at $1999.
