How to add a music bot to Discord?

Discord comes with a bunch of options to either automate or add functionality to its servers. One of these options is adding a bot.

Bots in Discord are exactly what you expect bots to be. They’re script disguised as people on a Discord server to get a particular task done. There are bots that can track stats, moderate servers and you guessed it, play music.

Music in voice channels has been quite a popular thing. These bots let users play and control music in their voice channels. There are a bunch of options to choose from as well. The most popular of these are Hydra, Rythm and Groovy.

Adding these bots to your server is pretty much identical. In this article, we’re going to take a look at how to add a music bot to your Discord servers using Rhythm bot.

Adding a music bot to your Discord servers

Go to rythmbot.co and follow the steps mentioned below.

Step 1: Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the button labelled ‘Add Rythm to your Discord Server.

Step 2: You’ll be redirected to the Discord login page. Sign in with your credentials.

Step 3: Discord will ask you to choose to the server to which you want to add the bot. Note that you can only add the bots to the Discord servers you have either created or for which you enjoy the admin privileges. Once you’ve selected the server, click on the Continue button at the bottom-right of the box.

Step 4: You’ll be asked to confirm the permissions. Make sure everything is in order and click on the Authorise button at the bottom-right of the box.

Step 5: That’s it, you’ve added Rythm to your server. Click the captcha button below and you’ll be redirected to the Rythm home page. 

Step 6: Now to use the bot, all you need to do is join a voice channel, and type in !play [song name]. Rythm will fetch that song from YouTube and start playing immediately.
