Spam emails in the name of offers and promotions are a common form of a cyber attack these days. Usually, these emails are also used for email spoofing. Most of the time you can get away with such attacks by using some common sense.
However, if you are continuously getting such emails, the best option is to block the sender or unsubscribe. In this article, we will explain precisely that. Do read the article till the end to get a complete idea of how to block and unsubscribe in Gmail.
How to block emails on Gmail (PC)?
Here are the steps to block the emails on Gmail if you are using a computer. Before continuing, sign in on Gmail with your account.
Step 1: Once you are in the Gmail, click on the message to open it.Step 2: When you have opened the message, click on the three-dot button at the top right of the message. Step 3: From the drop-down menu, click on Block <sender’s address>. To unblock the sender, use the same process again and then click on Unblock <sender’s address>. You can also report the message as spam. To do this, either tick mark the message and then click on the Spam option at the top or open the email > three-dot button on the top right > Report Spam. Block emails on Gmail app (Android and iOS)
If you are using the Gmail app, then follow the instructions given below to block the emails.
- Open the Gmail app and then tap on the email to open it.
- Now, tap on the three-dot button in the message.
- Tap on Block <sender’s address> from the drop-down menu.
To unblock the sender again, tap on the Unblock <sender’s address> from the same menu. To report the message as spam, tap on the three-dot button at the top right of the screen and then select Report Spam from the drop-down menu. Remember, this three-dot button is not the same as that the three-dot button we have told you in the steps above.
Alternatively, you can long-press on the email and then go to three-dot button > Report Spam. Refer to the screenshot below.

How to unsubscribe from mass emails?
If you have subscribed to a sender and are receiving mass emails regularly, you can unsubscribe that sender. To do this, open that sender’s email and then click on the Unsubscribe option on the right of the sender’s name. Alternatively, you can unsubscribe by scrolling to the last and then click on Unsubscribe.
