Apple ID is a vital component of the entire experience when using Apple products such as iPhones, iPads, iPods, Apple Watch and Mac as it helps sync user data across devices, among other uses such as backup and restoration of data.
If you want to change your Apple ID password to a stronger one or have misplaced your device and want to make sure that no one can misuse your Apple ID data, here is a guide to help you change your Apple ID password on iPhone, iPad and online and also how to sign out of all devices while changing the password.
Before you go ahead with the guide, remember that your Apple ID’s password should be at least eight characters including numbers, uppercase and lowercase letters.
How to change your Apple ID password on iPhone or iPad?
Go to your iPhone or iPad’s Settings and follow the steps below.
- Tap on your Apple ID at the top of the Settings app.
- On the next page, tap on Password & Security.
- Then tap on Change password option at the top of the next page.
- You’ll now be prompted to enter the device’s passcode if enabled.
- On the next page, enter the new password, then re-enter it in the box below and tap on the Change option at the top-right of the display.
How to change your Apple ID password online?
If you don’t have access to your iPhone or iPad and wish to change your Apple ID password online, follow the steps mentioned below.
Step 1: Go to https://appleid.apple.com. Enter your Apple ID and Password. If you don’t remember the password, click on the Forgot Apple ID or password? below the sign-in box and follow the on-screen instructions. Step 2: On your account page, click on the Change Password… link below Password under Security. Step 3: In the dropdown box, first enter your current Apple ID password, then the new one you want and then repeat the new one. Then click on the Change Password… button at the bottom of the box. If you’ve misplaced your iPhone or iPad and wish to sign out of the device, click on the check-box beside Sign out of devices and websites using my Apple ID option below the Confirm password box before hitting the Change Password… button.
