How to fix the ‘CSGO Stuttering’ error?

CSGO is arguable one of the best and the most popular FPS games to ever exist. The game focuses largely on tactical gameplay and requires a lot of concentration, practice and good reflexes to play right.

However, if you’ve got a jittery, stuttering game on your hands, it’s really hard to be able to perform in-game. In this article, we’re talking about how you can resolve and stutters with your game.

Launch Options

Valve’s Steam allows you to add custom launch parameters to your games easily. This can help optimise a game’s performance as well as control several parameters.

Step 1: Head over to your Steam library.

Step 2: Right-click on CSGO and head over to Properties.

Step 3: You’ll see the Launch Options setting under the General tab. Add the following line to the field after making the appropriate changes.

“-high -novid -tickrate 128 +fps_max 0 -nojoy -threads x (Replace X by the number of cores on your PC.)”

Save these settings and restart CSGO. Your stutters should’ve disappeared by now.

Check Graphics drivers

Out of date drivers for your GPU can cause a lot of random issues and glitches and games and other applications. Always make sure that you have the latest drivers for all your hardware.

If you have an Nvidia GPU, check the GeForce Experience utility for updates. Similarly, if you have an AMD GPU, check the AMD Radeon Settings utility.

In case you’re running an integrated GPU, you will face performance issues regardless as the GPUs are simply not powerful enough. However, you check for driver updates by following these steps.

Step 1: Press Windows key + R to open the Run prompt. Type in devmgmt.msc and hit enter.

Step 2: Scroll down to find Display adaptors. Double click it to expand and see all your graphics cards.

Step 3: Right-click on your graphics cards and select Update driver.

Step 4: Select Search automatically for updated driver software. Windows will automatically download and install any updates is available.

Workshop maps

Some users have reported that having way too many workshop maps installed has caused performance issues with CSGO. So if you have a bunch of workshop maps installed as well, try removing a few of them to see if it resolves your issue.

Stattrack skins

In a similar fashion, CSGO’s stattrack skins have caused a minor reduction in FPS for a lot of players. In case you feel like this is the issue for you, you can try swapping the stattrack skins for normal ones to see if resolves your issue.

Network issues

More often than not, network issues with your PC, router or ISP can cause CSGO to randomly lag and/or stutter. If you believe that’s the case, check out this article to resolve any possible network issues.

If you still can’t fix the issue, your best bet is to lodge a complaint with your ISP and have them look into the matter.
