Discord is a popular VOIP program that started as a communication app for gamers but since then has evolved to include just about anyone and any use case.
While the program does have well-made apps for both desktops and smartphones, it also has a browser-based app that lets you use Discord on pretty much any device that supports a web browser.
However, if you try to access Discord’s website on your phone, you won’t see any option to launch the web app. That’s because Discord will redirect you to use its apps for either Android or iOS. While the apps do get everything done, there are several settings and features only available in the web app and the desktop program.
In this article, we’re going over how you can access Discord’s web app on your smartphone and anything else you need to know to get started.

To access the Discord web app on your phone, all you have to do is switch to the desktop mode in your smartphone’s browser.
- Open the Discord site in your preferred browser.
- Go to the options menu and enable desktop mode.
- You’ll now see a login button to log into the web app.
Discord desktop mode vs Discord mobile app
While this gives you access to everything on Discord just like you’d be browsing on a desktop, it comes with major inconveniences. There’s going to be a lot of scrolling, mis-taps and there’s a chance that the web app might not be able to capture your smartphone’s mic and camera correctly.
If you’re going to be using Discord frequently, we recommend downloading the apps as they’ll make your experience much more cohesive and hassle-free. Not to mention they’ll open quickly, give you notifications, access to just about any feature you get on PC (including screen sharing) and will let you resume where you last left off, whether it’s typing a message on a server or chatting with a friend in DMs.
