Google Home or Google Nest is a smart speaker which uses spoken voice commands to control various services. You can interact with a Google Nest speaker through Google’s own virtual assistant called Google Assistant. Whereas Blink Smart Security are security products that sell video doorbells, floodlight cameras, and other home security-related equipment.
Now, in this article, we will be focussing on whether or not Blink’s home security can be controlled with Google Home to provide you with a safe and comfortable environment.

Can Blink link with Nest?
As an Amazon company, Blink’s home security products cannot be combined with Google Nest directly which is capable of commanding lights, sensors, TVs, and many more smart items. So if Blink cannot link with Next, what are we doing here? We are here to provide you with two alternative methods of linking the two brands together.
IFTTT
IFTTT stands for If This Then That, it is a private company that creates cross-platform if statements and is used by more than 17 million people. In a less complicated way, it integrates apps, devices, and services to work together.
Follow the steps given below to download the IFTTT app from either Play Store or App Store and further enable the two devices belonging to two entirely different brands to interact together:
- After creating an account, tap on the Explore icon and search for Blink.
- Tap on the Blink option and then Connect.
- Tap on Continue when a pop-up comes. Eventually, you’ll be asked to sign in to your Blink account.
- Give the PIN sent to your email address.
- Finally, tap on Grant Access.
Now, you can set up automation between Blink and Google Nest or Home. IFTTT has applets that can be used to arm or disarm the Blink security system. You can tap on any applet on your IFTTT app and then tap on Connect to add it to your app. Moreover, you can create your own applet by giving if-this-then-that situations.
SmartThings
Instead of using Google Nest, you can also use Samsung’s SmartThings to enable or disable the Blink security system. Similarly, you can also use Samsung’s SmartThings Cam which can be easily used with Google Nest or Home.
Since Amazon owns Blink and Google owns Google Nest or Google Home, it seems like an unlikely duo and future partnerships between the two competitors seem unlikely. As Amazon’s own voice assistant, Alexa is compatible with Blink, you can think of getting Amazon Echo instead of Google Nest. You can also invest in a security or home camera system more compatible with Google Nest or Home.
