Facebook launches Instagram Reels in over 50 countries

Facebook has launched its TikTok competitor, Instagram Reels, in 50 countries globally. The new tool, which can be accessed from within the Instagram app, will allow users to record 15-second-long videos and edit them with audio, effects and other tools.

Reels was launched in the Indian market last month, following the ban of TikTok, among 58 other Chinese apps by the Indian government.

Reels allows users to create and find videos on Instagram, You can make videos and share with your friends, followers or publicly on Instagram. If you are an influencer or content creator and have a public account, you can make your Reels available to everyone on Instagram from the explore screen and reach the audiences around the world.

Creating Instagram Reels

Select the Reels button from the menu at the bottom of the Instagram camera tab. You will find many interesting and creative tools, which will help you make the clip funnier.

You can use your own original audio or you can choose different songs from the Instagram music library. Instagram will give you credits for your audio and if you have a public account others can use your audio in making their own reels by choosing Use Audio option from your reel.

You can use AR effects to make Reels more interactive as it also assists in creating multiple videos with different effects. You can edit the timer and countdown and you can align the objects of your videos and also increase or decrease parts of audio or video.

Sharing Reels

If your account is set to public your Reels will appear in a dedicated section on the explore tab of the app but if it is set to private it will only appear on your followers feed.

When you share a Reel with certain songs, effects or hashtags, whenever someone clicks on that song, effects or hashtags your Reel may appear on pages only if your account is public but If your account is private then users that do not follow you will not be able to see your Reel and nobody can use your original audio in their Reels.

It gives people new ways to express themselves, discover more of what they love on Instagram, and help anyone with the ambition of becoming a creator take centre stage,” the company said in the announcement.
