Man of Medan

Man of Medan was released in 2019 as the first in a series of games called The Dark Pictures Anthology. Set in the South Pacific, the story follows Alex, Julie, Brad, Fliss, and Conrad as they embark on a diving trip. As always, they enjoy diving and drinking beer out in the open ocean until they are captured by fishermen. The fishermen, led by a mysterious character named Olson, force them to board an abandoned and disused SS Ourang Medan ship. This is when the game really begins and when the game truly gets scary. Just like in Until Dawn, you follow a group of young adults as they get caught up in a 90’s film scenario.

The Quarry

The Quarry is unquestionably the best game after Until Dawn. Supermassive Games produced many games after the release of Until Dawn, but they were unable to match the success of the original game. What sets The Quarry apart from the rest is that, unlike the other games, it retains the old formula; Virgin, the scholar, the athlete, the lady of the night, and the fool or some variant thereof. This was the formula of most 90s and early 2000s horror films. Apart from that, The Quarry has a unique werewolf story with many memorable characters.

The Devil in Me

The Devil in Me is the final game in The Dark Pictures anthology. It is set to be released in 2022 and is an interactive drama/survival horror video game. The game has some slasher horror elements in it. However, the studio is trying to get back to the glory days of its best game Until Dawn. It is the fourth game in the first season of the anthology. The story follows five playable characters as they are on a film crew. They are trying to film a documentary on a murder castle. They soon find out that there is a murderer in the hotel and that there are traps all over the hotel. The story is based on the life of one of America’s first serial killer and con artist Dr. Henry H. Holmes.

Supermassive Games released the psychological horror game The Inpatient, a prequel of sorts to Until Dawn, for virtual reality. The game takes place in an abandoned Sanatorium in 1952, which is 63 years before the events of Until Dawn. The game follows a patient named Alex, and at the end, players will learn more about Until Dawn. If you’re a fan of the original Until Dawn, put on your VR headset and get ready to explore the abandoned Sanatorium.

Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy Remastered

Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy Remastered is a revamped edition of Quantic Dream’s 2005 game. While the graphics have been enhanced, they may still appear somewhat outdated compared to modern standards. The plot revolves around Lucas Kane, who commits a murder while being propelled by a mysterious force. During the course of the game, you will also control other characters, such as two detectives, who are attempting to solve the murders. Indigo Prophecy was among the first games at the time to offer more than one ending and to be completely story-driven.

Heavy Rain

Heavy Rain was the game that brought Quantic Dream to the limelight. The story centers around four characters: Father, Ethan Mars, looking for his missing son; Private Investigator, Scott Shelby; FBI profiler, Norman Jayden; and Journalist, Madison Paige, plagued by nightmares and sleeplessness. Players take on the roles of each character as they attempt to hunt down the Origami Killer who uses heavy rain to drown his victims. Just like Until Dawn, players must rely on their quick reflexes as they are constantly interacting with each other. The outcome of the story is largely determined by what players do.
