Google Drive is one of the most popular cloud storage solutions at the moment. The service makes it extremely easy to quickly back up and share files and its seamless integration with Google’s other services nothing but guarantees a great experience.
That said, popularity doesn’t make the Drive immune to random bugs and glitches. In this article, we’re talking about an issue which makes your video uploads get such at the ‘processing’ stage, its causes and what you can do to fix the problem.

Why does this happen?
There are a number of reasons why your uploads might get stuck at ‘processing’, one of the most common ones being:
- Poor or unstable connection.
- The file you’re attempting to upload is larger in size and hence requires more time to process.
- Corrupt browser cache.
- Outdated browser version.
How to fix this?
Here are five fixes you can try out.
Check your internet connection
It’s also a good idea to check your internet connection when uploading. Check to see if you’ve got an active connection and that you’re connected to a WiFi network. If you’re on mobile data, make sure you’ve got good signal strength and that mobile data is enabled.
Log out and log in again
A classic move, logging out and logging in again often fixes such problems on just about any site. If you can’t see previews on Google Drive, try logging out of your Google account and try logging back in again to see if that solves your problem. You can further extend this solution by logging out of all Google accounts that your browser has saved to see if that helps fix the problem.
Share the link before processing
Another thing that you can do is just right-click the video file in question and download it manually on your PC to watch. This is particularly helpful if you’ve uploaded a video and don’t necessarily need Google Drive to transcode it so it can be played universally.
Clear your browser’s data
Corrupt files in your cache or otherwise can cause this error as well. Clear them out to see if you can get Chrome to work.
Step 1: Type in chrome://settings/clearBrowserData in your browser’s address bar and hit Enter.
Step 2: Select the cache and cookies options and make sure the Time range is set to All time. Click on the Clear now button to clear out all the data.
Restart the browser and try opening Google Drive again now.
Check for updates
If the issue is in Chrome itself, chances are developers might release an update to fix the problem. Regardless, you should always make sure you’ve got the latest version of the browser installed to avoid running into problems that could otherwise be avoided.
Head over to chrome://settings/help and make sure you’re on the latest update. If you’re not, update immediately and try again. The error should be fixed.
