4 ways you can use Google Maps other than getting directions

Google Maps is the go-to app for most of the smartphone users, including those using iPhones, for checking out directions to anywhere but that isn’t all the app does.

Apart from giving you directions, Google Maps can also help you find plenty of other things either on the way or at your destination — basically, anywhere around your location.

Running low on gas? Search for a petrol pump using the tab inside the Map. Feeling hungry? Find a restaurant on the way using the respective tab.

There are loads of other things that you could find out using the Google Maps app such as attractions in and around your destination, or your own home too.

Check out the lists below, separated into four categories — Food and Drinks, Attractions/Events/Fitness, Shopping, and Services — to find out what else you can find via Google Maps on Android or iOS.

Google has made it easier for the users of its Google Maps apps to share their ETA with friends and families as well as find charging stations for their electronic vehicles (EV). You can learn more about it here.

Google is rolling out a new feature for its Maps app on Android and iOS that will enable the users to send a message to a business listed on the Map and enquire things before you go and buy them physically in the store. Open the side menu, and you’ll find ‘Messages’ on both Google Maps for iOS and Android. Read more about it here.
