Android Play Store’s paid subscription, Google Play Pass, which was announced last year in September, is now rolling out a new yearly subscription option at $29.99 in USA.
The Google Play Pass feature gives access to more apps and games without any upfront cost, in-app purchases or ads is also being rolled out to Android users this week in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Spain and the United Kingdom.
Anyone who is already subscribed to the Play Pass can upgrade their subscription via the Play Pass tab in the Play Store.
At the time of launch last year, the Play Pass was available to US users at an introductory price of $1.99 per month for the first year and $4.99 thereafter. Currently, the company is offering a month-long free trial to the Play Pass, which can be accessed via the Play Store.
Google also announced that in addition to the 350 apps and games available at the time of release, they also added 150 new titles over the past few months, which include Sonic the Hedgehog, Teslagrad, Forgotten Annie, Sally’s Law and newly released titles such as The Almost Gone from Playdigious.
“We’ve also added titles from Sesame Workshop, Learny Land, and many others to our selection of kid-friendly apps and games. Just head over to ‘Apps and games for kids’ and look for the ‘Teacher approved’ badge,” Austin Shoemaker, group product manager, Google Play, announced.
Subscribers will see a new Play Pass tab in the Play Store app where they can find all the available apps under this plan. The apps and games available in the subscription are otherwise also searchable in the app and will show up with a Play Pass ‘ticket’, which signifies that those apps or games are available to your under the paid Google Play subscription.
A single subscription can also be shared among six family members, who can make individual profiles and will have a customised experience with a single subscription.
“A series of new titles will premiere on Play Pass this year when they launch. You can get started with the newly-released The Almost Gone from Playdigious, and look out for exciting content like The Gardens Between and Kingdom Rush, and brand new releases like Bright Paw from Rogue and Line Weight from The Label coming later this year.”
Google Play Pass is compatible with devices running Android 4.4 and newer and Play Store version 16.6.25 and above.
