Google’s Home Mini and Nest Mini are wonderful speakers for the price you pay. These ‘mini’ smart speakers that come at around $49 provide just the smart speaker experience that you need.
While the first-gen Home Mini was outperformed by rival Amazon’s Echo Dot in terms of sound quality, the second-gen Nest Mini has more than made up to its competition.
The main reason you’d want to get either Google’s or any other third party smart speaker that works on the Google Assistant is because of the assistant itself. Google has been working on their assistant for quite some time now and it’s ahead of the competition by quite some margin.
However, just like everything tech, these speakers aren’t exactly bug proof either and you can run into issues here and there. When all troubleshooting fails, a hard reset can come in really handy if you’re not keen on factory resetting the device.
In this article, we’re going to talk about how you can hard reset your Google Home Mini or Nest Mini.

How to hard reset the Google Home Mini and Nest Mini?
There are two ways you can hard reset your Google smart speaker. One is simply by yanking the thing out of power and the other uses the Google Home app.
The first method is pretty straightforward, you just unplug the smart speaker, wait for about 30 seconds and plug it back in again.
Here are the steps you need to follow to reset your smart speaker using the Google Home app.
- Open up the Google Home app and tap on your smart speaker.
- Tap on the Settings gear icon in the top right.
- Once the Device settings menu opens up, tap on the three vertical dots in the top right.
- Tap on Reboot to restart the device.
Your device will automatically reboot and any glitches you were facing should now be resolved.
