TVs have come a long way from the CRT boxes that they used to be. Modern-day TVs are quite the spectacle but aren’t immune to failures and issues. You can still run into problems because the TV main board or LED backlight fails.

In this article, we’re talking about the Hisense TV black screen issue, what causes it and how you can fix the problem.

What causes this issue?

A black screen, otherwise called the black screen of death can be caused by a number of reasons including the following:

  • The TV’s T-CON board has failed.
  • Issues with the LED backlighting.
  • Power issues.

How to fix the problem?

Here are four fixes you should try out.

Power cycle the TV

More often than not, simply power cycling your TV will fix the issue. Unplug your TV from the wall and press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds. Once done, wait another 30 seconds before plugging your TV in and it should work just fine.

Issues with the TV backlight

Try changing the volume using the input keys on the TV and remote and shine a bright light on where the interface would be. If you can see the interface, even dimly, chances are your main and T-CON board are working as expected and the issue is with your TV’s LED backlight.

In such cases, replacing the backlight is the best course of option. However, we do not recommend doing this yourself as it can void your TV’s warranty and can leave it permanently damaged. Contact a Hisense service centre to get your TV fixed.

Check the connections

Another possible reason for seeing the black screen can be faulty HDMI connections. Check to see that your input source is properly plugged into the TV and that any cables used in the process aren’t damaged. If any of the cables have mechanical damage on them (cuts or nicks) or the HDMI connector itself isn’t seated properly, the TV won’t get an input signal and hence the black screen.

Reach out to Hisense support

If nothing else works, your best bet is to reach out to Hisense support and get your TV looked at by a qualified technician. If there’s an issue with your T-CON board or some other part, the technician will be able to point out the exact fault and replace the faulty part to get your TV working again.
