Instagram’s Reels have taken the platform by storm, with everyone from small accounts to influencers with millions in the following jumping in to make one. However, creating the perfect reel might not be as easy as it sounds.

How to add text to Instagram Reels?

Adding text to your reels is a multistep process, and you can decide just how much effort you want to put into the whole thing. Adding simple text is one thing; animating it is another.

Follow these steps to add text to your reels.

How to add text to Reels?
  • Open your Instagram and tap the plus icon in the top left.
  • Select Reels here and either record one or select from your gallery.
  • Once you’ve got your reel, tap the Aa button at the top and add text.
  • You can customise your text using the styles given above your keyboard.

You can add as many text slides as you want using this method. Once you’ve added your text, you can position and scale it by dragging and pinching with your fingers, respectively, just like you would when adding text in your stories.

How to add disappearing text to Reels?

If you want to make your text disappear after a certain amount of time, here’s how.

How to add text to Reels?
  • When you’re done adding all text slides, tap on the first one at the bottom and adjust the time line to however long you want the text to appear.
  • Repeat this with any other text slides you might have.
  • When you’re done, tap the Next button.

You can also convert your text to speech by tapping on the text block and selecting the text to speech option. The option of deleting a text block is also here.

And that’s how you can add and animate text in Instagram reels. Note that while there may be third-party apps to create reels out there, we do not recommend you use them unless they come from a trusted publisher, like Adobe’s Premiere Pro Rush. However, Instagram’s in-built reel editor is quite intuitive and should get the job in most cases.
