The PS4 is one of Sony’s greatest consoles and one of the most popular consoles of all time. It boasts affordable hardware that’s also powerful enough to run just about any game at decent performance for the everyday console gamer. That said, if you play often and are looking to play with friends, you might want to pick up an extra controller.
In this article, we’re talking about how you can connect a DualShock 4 controller to the PS4 without using a USB cable.
Connecting DualShock 4 to PS4 wirelessly
Sony’s DualShock 4 controllers are equipped with Bluetooth to wirelessly connect to the PS4 (or even your PC with an external tool). While the controller should automatically pair with your console without doing anything, in case it doesn’t you can put your PS4 in pairing mode to pair with the controller.
Do keep in mind that you’ll need an already paired controller or a USB keyboard in order to be able to navigate the console’s interface. Once you have an input device ready, follow these steps.
Step 1: Head over to Settings from the utility menu.
Step 2: Head over to Devices.
Step 3: Now select Bluetooth Devices.
Step 4: Your controller should show up as DualShock 4 in the list below with a green dot indicating connection status. Select your controller to finish the pairing process.
Keep in mind that in case your controller doesn’t show up in the screen, you can manually put it in pairing mode by pressing and holding the Share and PlayStation buttons until the lightbar starts flickering.
