How to delete a download on Chromebook via Files?

One of the easiest ways to delete downloads on a Chromebook, including audio, image, video, or document, is the native file manager app Files. While third-party apps like File Manager can delete any files on Chromebook, the Files app works just fine.

Step 1: Open the Files app on your Chromebook.

Step 2: Click on the Downloads folder.

Step 3: Select the downloaded files or folders you’d like to delete. You can select either single downloads or multiple downloads. Then click on the Trash Bin icon from the toolbar — at the top-right.

Like Windows, use the combination of Shift + Arrow keys or Ctrl + left mouse button to select multiple downloaded files.

You’ll see a confirmation that the selected items have been moved to the Trash folder.

Step 4: To permanently delete these files, go to the Trash folder and click on the Empty trash now option.

Step 5: Select Delete Forever, and the downloaded files will be permanently deleted from your Chromebook.

Alternatively, you can permanently select and delete individual files from the Trash folder.
