How to flip the camera on Omegle?

Omegle is a rather popular online chatroom that lets anyone talk to strangers over the internet in a video call or over text chat. However, for a service that’s quite popular, Omegle has a simple, rather rudimentary user interface. There’s not much the platform lets you do except send simple text messages and talk to people.

While this isn’t really a problem on a computer, when you’re accessing Omegle from your phone, the website’s basic UI can become a problem. By default, Omegle picks up the front camera of your phone and uses that in video calls. In this article, we’re taking a look at how you can flip the camera on Omegle.

Unfortunately, Omegle doesn’t let you have any control over your camera feed being used in a video call on the platform. This means that the website picks up your camera by default and after that, there’s nothing you can do.

This extends to things like backgrounds and filters as well. You can use third-party apps to put up overlays or create multiple camera streams when using Omegle but that can get you blocked from the platform as Omegle isn’t exactly super welcoming when it comes to third-party apps interfering with the camera feed it’s using.

How to block/unblock camera on Omegle?

While you can’t exactly manipulate your camera feed on Omegle, you can restrict the website’s access to your camera causing your camera feed to become disabled.

Here’s how you can do this on PC:

Step 1: Open the Omegle website and click on the padlock icon.

Step 2: You can enable or disable your camera from here.

Here’s how to do this on phones:

  • Head over to the Omegle website and tap on the padlock icon before the URL.
  • Tap Permissions
  • You can control your camera and mic settings from here.
