Opening incognito on Chromebook

While the incognito mode helps you browse privately, it does so by keeping no track of your browser history, the cookies and other data compiled from the websites that you visit and this includes any detail that you might fill in a form. The incognito mode does not allow the browser to read any private information.

Through the menu

You can follow the steps given below to understand how the incognito mode can be used opened using the menu options provided in the Google Chrome browser:

Step 1: Open the Google Chrome web browser. In the top right corner of your browser, click on the three vertical dots.

Step 2: Click on the New Incognito window option. A new incognito window will open which will have a gray background.

Shortcut via pinned Chrome app

You can also go to the Google Chrome app present either on your desktop or pinned in the menu bar at the bottom of your screen and click right on the Chrome app to open right-click options. Click on the New Incognito window option.

Keyboard shortcut

You can also use the keyboard shortcut to open a new incognito window by pressing the Ctrl + Shift + N buttons simultaneously. This shortcut will work as long as you have a Google Chrome tab open on your screen.

Closing incognito window

You can disable the incognito mode by simply clicking on the cross button in the top-right corner or clicking on the Incognito word written just below. This will open a small box asking if you would like to Close Incognito. Click on this option to close all of your open incognito tabs.

Closing the incognito mode brings your session to an end and you are directed back to the normal Chrome browser where your browser history is tracked, you gather cookies and data from all the websites that you visit, and you can save your passwords or other form information.

Close single incognito tab

You can also close an individual incognito tab using a keyboard shortcut of pressing the Ctrl + W buttons simultaneously to close a singular tab instead of the entire window. This way you can close incognito tabs one at a time. This shortcut will work even in normal mode, so make sure you have an incognito window open on your screen when using this shortcut to close any incognito tab.
