Minecraft has a lot of tools and weapons that you can craft from different elements that you can dig up in-game. However, when fighting, a weapon’s not the only thing that’ll help you.
The game also has crafting recipes for armour that can be worn on different parts of the body. In this article, we’re talking about making pants in Minecraft.

Pants in Minecraft
Minecraft pants are lower body armour crafted from the following materials.
- Leather
- Gold
- Iron
- Chains
- Diamond
- Netherite
The recipe for crafting pants remains the same regardless of the element you use. If you’re making leather pants, you can also dye them with any of the in-game dyes that you can craft as well. A pair of leather pants have 75 durability points, which means they’re going to be a great addition to your defence against hostile mobs.
Crafting pants in Minecraft
In this article, we’re crafting leather pants as an example. However, if you have enough of the right material, you can use the same recipe to craft pants from any other element as well.
For crafting leather pants, you’re going to need seven leather. Once you have it, follow these steps. Do keep in mind that since pants require a 3 x 3 crafting grid, you’re also going to need a crafting table at the ready.
Step 1: Walk up to your crafting table and right-click to interact.
Step 2: Arrange the seven leather in the exact pattern as shown below. Once you’re done, move the crafted pants to your inventory or equip them straight away.
Just like weapons and tools, armour items aren’t stackable, meaning you can only save one pair in one inventory slot.
Dyeing leather pants
In Minecraft, you can create the following dyes.
- Red
- Orange
- Yellow
- Line
- Green
- Light Blue
- Cyan
- Blue
- Purple
- Magenta
- Pink
- White
- Light Gray
- Gray
- Black
- Brown
Once you have any of these dyes at hand, you can place them adjacent to your pants in a crafting grid, either your personal one or on a crafting table and dye the pants to the corresponding colour. However, this method only works in the Java edition.
If you want to dye your pants in the Bedrock edition, you’re going to need a cauldron full of water. Then you can add your dye and the pants to the cauldron to get them dyed the colour you want.
Do keep in mind that dyeing pants is a purely cosmetic action and doesn’t improve the durability of the armour in any way, shape or form.
