A few months back, the popular social media platform, TikTok came up with a new feature where users could view the number of people who have visited their account. A feature that is similar in idea to LinkedIn, where you can see who has visited your profile through premium, TikTok offers this feature to all users for free.
If you are not able to find this feature, then try updating your TikTok app.
In this article, we will be focussing mainly on how you can view someone’s TikTok profile without them finding out.

Finding the feature
If you are currently unaware of the profile view feature then you may not know where to find it, so if you have updated the TikTok app, then follow the steps given below to enable this feature:
- Open the TikTok app and tap on the profile icon in the lower-left corner.
- At the very top, next to a three horizontal lines icon, there will be an eye icon, tap on it to enable profile viewing history.
- You can tap on Turn on at the bottom of your screen to switch on your profile view history.
Post view feature
Additionally, there is also a feature called Post view history where you can see the number of users who have watched your TikTok videos. If you want to view someone’s video without them finding out, then you can switch off your Post view history. Avoid liking or commenting on the video to remain hidden.
You can also disable this feature by heading to Settings > Privacy > Post views to turn off the toggle in front of Post view history.
Understanding the feature
Profile view history has a few specifications that you can keep in mind before turning it on, these are summarised below:
- Only you are privy to the information of your profile viewing history. No one else can see who has viewed your profile unless you decide to show it to them.
- You can view the profile of anyone who has visited your account in the past 30 days. So can they, if you decide to visit their profile. Any profile that you visit will keep you in their profile view database history for 30 days before automatically erasing the information.
- You will not be shown those profiles who turn off this feature while visiting your profile. There will be no recorded history of them viewing your account.
- You can turn this feature on or off at your whim.

Viewing without recording
If you want to view someone’s profile without having a recorded history of you visiting their profile, then you can turn off or disable your profile view feature. As mentioned in the previous section, if you or the person whose profile you are visiting has their profile viewing history featured disabled then your visit will not be recorded.
Given below is a step-by-step process of how you can turn off or disable this feature on your TikTok account:
- Open the TikTok app and tap on the profile icon in the lower-left corner.
- At the very top, next to a three horizontal lines icon, there will be an eye icon, tap on it to view your profile views. A list of people with their accounts who have viewed your profile will be shown here.
- Now, tap on the gear icon at the top-right corner and tap on the toggle that shows up on a dialog box in front of Profile view history.
You have now disabled this feature, so if you visit someone’s profile, your visit will not be recorded or marked in their profile view history.
You can also disable this feature by heading to Settings > Privacy > Profile views to turn off the toggle in front of Profile view history.
However, as long as you have switched off this feature, you will not be able to view the number of people who visit or view your account as your profile viewing history is turned off and it will not be recording any visits.
Therefore, after you are done visiting the profile of someone whom you don’t want to find out that you viewed their profile, you can re-enable this feature by following the same steps as mentioned above.
Another method
You can also visit the person’s profile via TikTok’s website, by simply searching for their name. This does not require you to create an account and thus, your visit will not be recorded in that person’s Profile view or Post view history.
