Word automatically breaks lines at spaces or hyphens to wrap text to the next line, but if you don’t want that to happen between some parts of a sentence or certain spaces in your document, you can use the Nonbreaking spaces tool to fix this issue.
Inserting a non-breaking space instead of the regular one will ensure that Word doesn’t break the line at that point, which can be really helpful when you want two words to appear in the same line or don’t want Word to break your text formatting. Here are two ways to insert a non-breaking space in Word.
The quickest way to insert a non-breaking space in your Word document is by using the assigned shortcut key.
Put your cursor wherever you want to insert the non-breaking space in Word and press Ctrl + Shift + Space shortcut key. However, if the shortcut key isn’t working for some reason, follow the guide below to do the same.

Inserting non-breaking space in Word
Put your cursor wherever you want to insert the non-breaking space in Word and follow the steps mentioned below.
Step 1: Click on the Insert option from the toolbar menu at the top. Then click on Symbol (located at the extreme right of the options that appear in the toolbar) and select More Symbols from the dropdown menu.

Step 2: In the Symbol window, select the Special Characters tab. Then click on the Nonbreaking Space character and click on the Insert button.

You’ll see the non-breaking space appear where your cursor is located. You can insert as many of these spaces and once you’re done, click on the Cancel button or X (cross) icon at the top-right to close the dialog box.
