Being safe when handling user data is a big point to note for any social media platform, let alone one as big as Instagram. The app requires two-factor authentication to identify their user once they log into their accounts through a web browser or some other device.
However, often SMS codes don’t arrive owing to bad internet or network covering. In this article, we’re looking at how to fix this issue so that you can log into your account as soon as possible.

What to do when you don’t receive an Instagram SMS code?
Here are seven solutions you can try and fix the problem.
Check the network connection on your device
It might be very likely that you are not receiving the Instagram SMS code due to your poor network connection. You can try switching to airplane mode and switching back to your mobile network.
Using a VPN can help you get around any geolocation restrictions you might be facing, which can cause SMSs to stop working. Try using a VPN with a server location where the system works to see if you can get past the problem.
Log in using your email
Another thing you could give a shot is logging in through your email instead of the phone number. This could especially work if you’re facing issues with network connectivity or are on a shoddy internet connection.
Try logging in with Facebook
Instagram allows users to log in with their Facebook accounts. So if you’ve got the two linked already, you can use one to get into another. Just tap the Log in with Facebook button either on the browser or the app, and you should be good to go.
If you’re trying to login to Instagram using a browser and facing this issue there, try using incognito mode to see if that lets the message through. At times, corrupt data in the browser or misconfigured settings can cause issues with a website’s server communications.
Check the spam folder of your mail
While highly unlikely, verification codes sometimes end up in spam, even if they’re from Instagram. Check your spam folder to see if the verification code landed there.
Clear the app cache
Clearing the app’s cache can eliminate any corrupt files or data that might interfere with Instagram’s functionality.
- Tap on Apps and notifications.
- Tap on Show all apps and find Instagram from the list. If you’ve recently used Instagram, it’ll show up in the recent apps as well.
- Tap on Instagram.
- Then tap on Storage & cache.
- Then tap on the Clear Cache button to remove all cache files.
Try logging into the app now.
