Is ChatGPT free?

Ever since it was released in November 2022, ChatGPT, an AI chatbot, has taken the world with a wild gust, showing only a preview of what is yet to come. ChatGPT, or Chat Generative Pre-Trained Transformer, was introduced by OpenAI as an interactive AI chatbot that can answer any question. Through this chatbot, you can get answers to any question (and we mean absolutely any) in the world.

In this article, we will determine whether ChatGPT is currently free to use or if you need to buy a subscription for the world’s most popular chatbot.

ChatGPT’s Services

The uproar surrounding ChatGPT stems from AI’s unique and non-plagiaristic dialogues with humans. It is currently free. This AI is improving itself by holding conversations with people globally, talking about philosophy, coding, medicine, and an infinite range of topics. ChatGPT answers your questions within seconds. It has been predicted to make working on assignments and projects a piece of cake. It has already been banned in district schools across the United States. Israeli president, Isaac Herzog, also used ChatGPT to write his speech partly.

Not only is ChatGPT free, it is easy to access

All you need to do is visit OpenAI’s ChatGPT website and sign up to create a free new account. You can then log in and ask ChatGPT any random question to begin, and the AI might take extra seconds if the question is complicated.

ChatGPT can also be used as a search engine to get specific and concise information regarding a topic. However, ChatGPT is still developing, so you cannot completely rely on its information. Despite this, every sentence is plagiarism-free and brimming with information.

Every question asked and answered is monitored for research purposes, thereby quickly diagnosing any inappropriate query.

ChatGPT Plus: The paid subscription

At the beginning of February 2023, OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Plus in the US for $20 monthly. ChatGPT Plus offers chatbot services even during peak hours when it would usually not function, faster response times and early access to all new features.

The company is also exploring paid-tier options for individuals and businesses, including a lower-cost plan. The paid version will help support the free version to remain free for the majority, especially those who cannot afford to subscribe to the future of chat.

While ChatGPT Plus is currently only available in the USA, OpenAI plans to expand its availability across other countries worldwide.

“We plan to refine and expand this offering based on your feedback and needs. We’ll also soon be launching the (ChatGPT API waitlist), and we are actively exploring options for lower-cost plans, business plans, and data packs for more availability,” OpenAI announced in February 2023.

Is ChatGPT going to remain free?

However, since its release and growing popularity, ChatGPT has been used by millions of people worldwide, and the system is functioning at capacity. Hence, it is unlikely that the service will remain free for long after it is done gathering data and improving itself. Even if it manages to keep a free tier, expect it to have limited capabilities and request limits.

One of the many errors ChatGPT’s free version might throw due to server overload or outage

This language-based AI chatbot is already helping people around the world to make their work easier. However, ChatGPT or similar AI tools have instilled fear of thousands of jobs becoming outdated within the next few years. It already has Google worrying about their status and has passed the Wharton MBA exam and the US Medical Licensing exam.
