Manufactures of smartphones, accessories, PCs and Laptops, Lenovo decided to add another smartwatch or more like a fitness tracker to their array of products called the Lenovo EGO smartwatch, which is priced in at INR 1,999. This smartwatch is being offered as Xiaomi’s Mi Band 3 and Honor’s Band 4 direct competition as all three devices are within the same price spectrum.

The Ego digital’s highlight is its sports watch design, which makes it stand out in the smartwatch/fitness band sector. In this article, we compare the already present budget fitness trackers like the Mi Band 3 and the Honor Band 4 with the new Lenovo Ego smartwatch.

Design

The Mi Band 3 and the Honor Band 4 live up to their names and sport the design of a wrist band like most fitness trackers do nowadays. The Honor Band 4 is slightly larger, but both of these devices have support for interchangeable bands with plenty of third-party options available.

The Lenovo Ego smartwatch has opted for a traditional sports watch type of a design which does not look bad, but in-turn loses functionality like a backlit display, a coloured display and more.

If the design is what you want, the Honor Band 4 may have the best one here.

Display

The display may be the most differentiating feature of these three devices as all of them sport a different kind of display. The Honor Band 4 has a 0.95 inch AMOLED screen which also is capable of showing different colours. The Mi Band 3 has a 0.78 inch OLED screen which only lights up and is mono-coloured.

Whereas, the Lenovo Ego smartwatch has a 7-segment display similar to those of a traditional digital watch. It is merely average and is not backlit.

Features

In terms of features, like every other fitness tracker, all these bands have mostly the same functionalities. All three devices have an optical heart rate sensor which may not be the most accurate. The watches are capable of tracking sleep and have a pedometer, gyroscope to keep up with all the activity that you perform throughout the day.

All the three fitness trackers have 5ATM waterproofing which makes it swim-proof and they all also have Bluetooth v4.2 connectivity.

The Lenovo Ego fails to show details of a message or caller id during an incoming call, unlike the other two fitness bands. It does not have great notifying capabilities like its competition.

Battery Life

The Lenovo Ego has the most impressive battery life among the three, but again that is obvious considering its low power consumption display. The Ego lasts for about 18-20 days on a full charge. The Mi Band 3 comes in close with a long-lasting battery of about 15-20 days varying on daily usage.

The Honor Band 4 is the least lasting out of the three, but again it has an AMOLED display which usually consumes more battery, which lasts for about 5-7 days.

Pricing

The Lenovo Ego smartwatch and the Mi Band 3 are both priced at INR 1,999 whereas, the Honor Band 4 runs a bit more expensive at INR 2,499.

Which one should you buy?

Since they are such close competitions, choosing between the three is difficult. If Honor Band 4’s pricing and battery life is not a problem, then I would recommend you go for it.

If not, then between the Lenovo Ego and the Mi Band 3, the Mi Band 3 is a better device overall and feels less gimmicky.
