Moto G6 Plus vs Moto G6: 11 talking points

The Moto G6 released earlier this year April while the Moto G6 Plus was released last month in September and since their release both been quite popular in the market.

Let us take a closer look at their specifications and some differences that will help you make a better choice between which of the two you should go for depending on your needs and budget.

Both of the devices are water repellent that protects them against splashes and light rain.


While the Moto G6 Plus runs on the Snapdragon 630 octa-core processor that clocks at speeds up to 2.2 GHz supported by Adreno GPU 508, the Moto G6 runs on the Snapdragon 450 octa-processor clocking at 1.8 GHz supported by Adreno 506 GPU.

Needless to say, the Moto G6 Plus is much faster as compared to Moto G6.

Both the smartphones have the same dual rear camera setup that comprises a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. While the Moto G6 Plus has a front camera of the Moto G6 has a 16 megapixel one.

Although the devices seem the same as per the tech specs of the camera, the image quality differs and so does the video capture quality.

While the rear camera of the Moto G6 can capture videos at 1080p (60 fps), the G6 Plus captures 4K ultra HD videos. The front camera has the same video capturing capabilities.


Moto G6 Plus

The Moto G6 Plus has a display screen size of 5.9 inches that supports full HD+ Max Vision IPS display whereas the Moto G6 has a display of 5.7 inches full HD+ IPS panel.

Both the models have a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. The two also come with a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.


The Moto G6 plus has a battery capacity of 3200 mAh and supports Turbocharging. The Moto G6 also supports Turbocharging but its battery capacity is of 3000 mAh. A 15W Turbo charger is provided in the box for the same.

Operating System

Both the smartphones run on stock Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box.

6 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage, which can be extended up to 256 GB via an a microSD card.

Moto G6

3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage extendable to  256 GB via a microSD card.

4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage extendable to 256 GB via a microSD card.


Both the smartphones provide 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n (dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, USB Type-C, and 3.5mm headphone jack connectivity options.

They support dual SIMs but of the two SIM cards, only one can run at 4G speed at a time, with the other limited to a 3G connection.

The Moto G6 series has separate slots for both the Nano-SIMs and a microSD card.


The sensors provided in the Moto G6 duo include a proximity sensor, accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, magnetometer, face recognition and a fingerprint sensor.

Colour schemes

Both the Moto G6 and Moto G6 Plus are available in an Indigo Black colour scheme.

Conclusion: While there is a lot of difference between the prices of Moto G6 Plus and the Moto G6, the latter is a good bet at its price point.

The Moto G6 Plus might feel a lot better given its computing power as well as memory specs, but its current price, it has a lot of competition that works a lot better than it, including one from its own stable — Motorola One Power.
