How to fix the Qbittorrent i/o error?

Run Qbittorrent as Administrator

It is possible that Qbittorrent is not getting enough permissions and that is stopping it from functioning properly. Running an application as an administrator will allow the app to edit, run and modify key system files and settings. So run Qbittorrent as an administrator, it might work for you as many users have fixed this error through this method. To run Qbittorrent as an administrator follow the methods below:

Run Qbittorrent as an administrator once

To run Qbittorrent as an administrator once follow the step below.

Step: Right-click on the Qbittorrent icon and then in the drop-down click on the Run as administrator option.

Run Qbittorrent always as an administrator

If you want to run Qbittorrent always as an administrator whenever you run the application, then follow the steps below:

Step 1: Right-click on the Qbittorrent icon and then in the drop-down click on the Properties option.

Step 2: In the properties, click on the Compatibility tab and then checkmark the Run this program as an administrator, click on Apply button and then the Ok button.


Disable Windows Defender

Windows Defender checks all the applications running on your PC for any malicious activity to protect your PC but sometimes it interferes with the functioning of the apps and it might be interfering with the Qbittorrent also and causing the i/o error. Disable the Windows Defender temporarily.

Add user from Qbittorrent properties

Qbittorrent security settings might have restricted access from your current system account on the PC. If this is the case then you have to add a new user through Qbittorrent properties. To add a new user through Qbittorrent properties follow the steps below:

Step 1: Right-click on the Qbittorrent icon and then in the drop-down click on the Properties option.

Step 2: In the properties, Click on the Security tab and then click on the Edit button.

Step 3: In the next window, click on the Add button.

Step 4: Type the new username in the Enter the object names to select box that you want to add and then click on the Check Names button.

Step 5: In the Name not found window, click on the Ok button.

Once done, restart the Qbittorrent and check if the i/o error is gone or not.


Restart your PC

If none of the above methods works for you then Restarting the PC might work as it is the best solution for any problem and it also works most of the time in resolving the issues, if the errors are being caused by some minor bugs or glitches or interference by other software and applications in the PC.
