Team communication platform Slack unveiled several new tools and features, including Slack Huddles, Atlas and video, voice and screen recording, on Wednesday.
Slack Huddles is an audio tool that allows people in a Slack workplace or channel to start live conversations. It can be started in any channel or DM, including with the people not in the same company. Huddles also offer live captioning
The audio conversation tool that aims to make spontaneous conversations a thing during remote work has started to roll out to paid teams.
Slack is also bringing a new tool to make it easier for people to share voice, video and screen recordings on the platform. The tool will also work with third-party videos and include searchable transcripts for any recordings made on Slack. Similar to huddles, recordings will also offer live captioning.
Voice, video and screen recordings on Slack are coming to paid teams in a few months.
Slack also brings a scheduling feature that’ll allow people to schedule a recording or a text message on the platform. This feature is rolling out to everyone on Slack.
Slack Atlas is another update the company announced, aiming to help people connect with colleagues and navigate an organisation. It could especially be beneficial for large companies.
With integrations with tools like Workday, Atlas adds more details to user profiles, including employee start dates and other custom fields to make it easier for people to learn about others in an organisation.
Atlas is rolling out to Business+ and Enterprise Grid plans.
