You were working effortlessly on your web browser, bouncing between several tabs, and then suddenly, your browser crashed. You lost your flow, and now you don’t feel like working again.
If you are using an old machine low on RAM, you have probably experienced the aforementioned situation several times.
The main reason for this unlikely behaviour is that every tab on your browser is an independent process. Due to this reason, every new tab on your browser increases the system resources it consumes.
It is this increase in the usage of system resources that causes a web browser to crash. So how do you solve the problem of an unresponsive browser and keep all your tabs?
Well, the answer to your question is simple, you start using Microsoft Edge as your daily driver and use its sleeping tabs functionality to prevent your browser from freezing.
A sleeping tab is visible on your browser, but it reduces the resources it consumes. This reduction in the consumption of system resources happens when a tab has been running in the background for a specified amount of time but has not been opened in a while. According to Microsoft, a sleeping tab consumes 32 per cent lesser memory and boosts up battery life by 37 per cent.
When you click on a sleeping tab, the browser reallocates the released resources, bringing them back to life, enabling users to open as many tabs as they want.
