Qualcomm is one of the leading producers of processors in the world. The processors’ efficiency and performance have helped Qualcomm leave some of the most successful processor brands behind. Today, there are a variety of Qualcomm Snapdragon processors in the market. Two of these are Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 632. What is the difference between them? Which one is better? Read the article to find out.

Snapdragon 636 has an upgraded X12 LTE mode, while the 632 features the X9; 636 also has a better LTE peak download speed at 600 Mbps compared to 632’s 300 Mbps. In addition to these, Snapdragon 636 and 632 differ on the following six parameters.

Fabrication process

As the difference between the two processors’ cost is not significant, Qualcomm has managed to use the same fabrication process for both processors. Both of them use a14nm fabrication process. When the fabrication process is smaller, it can fit more transistors, and thus, we can experience better and more efficient performance.

Though there is a slight difference in the CPU, both the processors perform exceptionally well. While Snapdragon 636 has a slightly more optimised 8x Kryo 260 CPU that clocks up to 1.8 GHz, Snapdragon 632 sports an 8x Kryo 250 CPU that clocks up to 1.8 GHz. We can say that Snapdragon 632 is a lighter version of Snapdragon 636.

GPU and Storage

Here comes the part where Snapdragon 636 takes a massive leap over Snapdragon 632. Snapdragon 636’s Adreno 512 GPU is much smoother and efficient than Snapdragon 632’s Adreno 506 GPU.

In terms of storage, while Snapdragon 632 supports LPDDR3 RAM, Snapdragon 636’s Dual Channel LPDDR4/4x 1333 MHz with eMMC 5.1 storage support ensures much more efficiency and speed.

Display and Camera

Snapdragon 632 sports a Full HD+ display while the other sports a better display with up to QHD and WQXGA display support. Snapdragon 636 also wins the camera and connectivity segment. It supports up to a 24MP single camera and a 16+16MP dual camera setup. Snapdragon 632 lags behind with up to 24MP single camera and 13+13MP dual camera setup support.
