Sony Xperia XZ3, the company’s flagship smartphone, has been announced at IFA 2018, Berlin. The device will run Android Pie and is powered by Bravia OLED TV technology.
“Our new XZ3 flagship smartphone is not just beautiful to look at, but it’s packed with Sony’s cutting-edge audio and visual technologies, letting you enjoy high-quality content just as the creators intended, for a truly immersive entertainment experience in the palm of your hand,” said Hideyuki Furumi, Executive Deputy President, Head of Sales Marketing, Sony Mobile Communications.
Sony Xperia XZ3 Specs and Features
Design
Xperia XZ3 has an end-to-end curved display, with bezels on top and bottom at the front — no notch. The device is water and dust resistant with IP65/IP68 certification and its display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
The fingerprint sensor sits at the middle of the back panel, making it more accessible.
The water and dust resistant certification signify that you can carry the device in the rain or even give it a wash under a tap water but you need to keep all the ports and attached covers closed. You shouldn’t submerge the device under seawater, salt water, chlorinated water or other beverages.
Display
Sony’s flagship device features a 6-inch QHD+ (1440 x 2880) OLED display, which is powered by Sony’s award-winning Bravia OLED TV technology. This helps the device deliver sharper and more vibrant colours.
The device features an HDRÂ up-convert X-Reality engine that transforms SDR content close to HDR. In addition, the Dynamic Vibration System of the device will let you feel your hand when there is action going on in films or music videos.
Processor
Sony Xperia XZ3 is powered by a 10nm, 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC (8x Kryo 385) chipset clocks at speeds up to 2.8GHz and is supported by Adreno 630 GPU. The chipset lets users fastest connection speeds at 1.2Gbps.
Advanced Motion Eye camera and AI
The device sports a 19MP Motion Eye camera with a 25mm wide-lens (F2.0), predictive hybrid autofocus and autofocus burst.
The camera can capture super slow motion video at 960fps at 1080p, supports 4K HDR video recording and HDR photos too.
The 19MP rear camera features an AI-powered tech, which knows what you wish to capture as soon as you open the viewfinder and captures images for you without you moving another finger.
The front camera is a 13MP unit with a 23mm wide-angle lens that lets you capture self-portraits with bokeh effect. It also features advanced 3D Creator that helps you add facial expressions to their scans.
Memory
The Sony Xperia XZ3 comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal memory, which can be expanded up to 512GB via a microSD card.
