Telegram is one of the most popular messaging and VoIP service available for Android, iOS, Windows, macOS and Linux. It allows the users to chat, call and share media such as photos, videos, audio, stickers and files of any type with the use of cloud services — much likes WhatsApp and these other apps.

With 200 million monthly active users, which are growing steadily, Telegram has made its mark in the communication app ecosystem but over the past few years an alternative to the official app, Telegram X, has been increasingly gaining popularity and that’s not for nothing.

Four years after Telegram was founded by Nikolai and Pavel Durov, who had previously established Russian social networking site VK, Telegram X was born when the founders organized a contest for Android app developers.

The winner of the contest used the power of TDLib to create a fantastic application with a special focus on smooth animations. The goal of Telegram X is to reinvent the original Telegram Messanger in terms of speed, ease of use, quality of animations and user experience.

Telegram X vs Telegram

Telegram X is faster and consumes less power than the original app. It also sports a new sleek design and supports a bubble-free mode for chats. In the bubble-free mode, photos take the full width of the screen, and conversations get more room to breathe.

Telegram X also provides tap and hold feature on any chat, which allows the user to preview the contents of the chat without opening it. The chats and calls are just a swipe away; you can even forward a message by simply swiping it to the right. The app also contains a redesigned music player and attachment menu and provides quicker access to shared media with the help of optimized profile pages.

The iOS version of the app, which was originally written in Objective C–based client, was completely rewritten in Swift and additional features were implemented in it. It may or may not replace Telegram Messenger in future, but this version is a must-try for all the users.

The Telegram team had to face a lot of issues in Russia as well as other Europian countries as they did not disclose the official headquarters. This is the reason why the team had to migrate from country to country, and currently, the team is based in Dubai. Telegram does not entertain any government data request and is banned in some countries: Bahrain, China, Indonesia, Iran, Pakistan and Russia.
