Airtel TV, the telecom network’s streaming service, has been rebranded as Airtel Xstream, which promises to deliver a better UI as well as an improved streaming selection and quality. It boasts of a video library consisting of more than 10,000 movies, 100 TV shows, and 350 live TV channels.

According to the company, the Xstream service is still in beta as they’ll be adding new content every fortnight. Airtel Xstream also houses content from other streaming services such as Eros Now, Hooq, Hoichoi, Zee5, SonyLiv and Hungama Play.

While the Airtel Xstream app is free to download, premium content needs a subscription — which makes up for most of the library. Here’s the catch. Only Airtel prepaid, postpaid, DTH or broadband subscribers are eligible for a Premium subscription. So, if you’re on some other network, you’ll need to switch your telecom provider to Airtel first to be able to access the app. Or else, get a new Airtel sim card.

Airtel Xstream Premium price

The premium subscription of Airtel Xstream is virtually free because it comes clubbed alongwith postpaid, DTH, broadband connections as well as with prepaid connections that are recharged with bundle packs of INR 199 or above.

So, you pay for your prepaid, postpaid, DTH or broadband connection and get Airtel Xstream Premium subscription bundled alongwith it for free. Users can also check out other free bundled offerings like Airtel Secure and free Amazon Prime subscription, among others by the company under its Airtel Thanks program that can be accessed via the Airtel app.

Users can be logged in via the same account on up to five different devices.

Airtel Xstream download limit

Airtel Xstream allows unlimited downloads to its Premium subscribers, but only five video titles (movies or TV shows) can be kept in the downloaded list at once. To download more videos, you’ll need to delete one or more of the five you’ve already downloaded.

Eros Now videos can’t be downloaded currently. Currently, there is no option of choosing the download quality of a video, but the company says they’ll soon be adding SD and HD options.

Note: At the time of writing, the option to download a video isn’t available in the Airtel Xstream app, which might reappear soon as the company mentioned that the rebranded app is under development.
