5G has been the talk of the tech town for quite a few years and has increasingly seen adaptability across countries around the world. Needless to say, USA is one of the early adopters of the new telecom technology, which promises net speeds in GBs on mobile devices that will enable people to stream 4K or 8K content as well as seamlessly connect via FHD quality video calls.
Verizon is one of the telecom networks in USA that has launched 5G in several cities across the country, including five with 5G Edge for businesses. While Verizon boasts a total of 98% network coverage (3G, 4G, 5G) across USA, high-speed 5G spectrum enjoys only a tiny portion of that percentage.
5G is available in ultra-wide millimetre wave spectrum (also known as 5G Ultra Wideband; the quicker one) as well as a low-band spectrum (5G Nationwide, the slower one), which leverages dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS) that runs 5G and 4G LTE simultaneously on multiple spectrum bands. So, whenever someone using Verizon exits the ultra-wide millimetre spectrum coverage area, their device stays on 5G but switches to the low-band, which means you won’t get high speeds like on the 5G ultra wideband.

Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband availability
While Verizon covers most of the areas across all states (except Alaska) with 4G LTE service or 5G Nationwide, 5G Ultra Wideband is only available in the following 55 cities across the country.

Verizon 5G Nationwide coverage
As mentioned above, at the time of writing, ultra high speed 5G coverage is only limited to the 55 cities in USA. At the same time, a wide area is covered by the relatively lower speed and low-band spectrum network called 5G Nationwide. You can check the map below to understand Verizon’s coverage of 5G overall.
Alaska doesn’t have much going for them in the telecom sector either.
