How are followers ordered?
If you’ve ever checked your followers or following list, it might seem like they’re listed in no particular order. However, that’s not exactly true. You see, Instagram lets you decide what order you want to see people you follow, apart from the default algorithm it uses to order people you follow based on mutual interaction.
Here’s how you can set this.
- Open Instagram and head over to your profile.
- Tap Following
- Tap the Sorted by option.
- Select the sorting you want.
How are your followers ordered on Instagram?
When it comes to your followers, Instagram takes a different approach. The list isn’t alphabetical or chronological. Your following list is also based on mutual interaction.
When you view other people’s followers, the first part will contain people you both mutually follow. After that, it’s ordered by people you’re most likely to follow. This also depends on how many followers you have on Instagram.
If you have less than 200 followers, the list is based on the alphabetical order of the profile name, not the username. For people who have more than 200 followers, the Instagram algorithm takes over and shows people with mutual interaction.
Do keep in mind that Instagram keeps switching this up, though, so you might not quite be able to make out the order in which these lists are shown.
