Google Maps is beyond doubt one of the best navigation apps around at the moment, especially if you’re an Android user. The app can give you anything from traffic details to the closest gas stations and attractions on your daily commute. It also keeps getting feature updates and can provide a lot more information about your geographical location.
That said, one of the most common uses for the app is getting directions to and from the workplace. Here’s how.
How to get work and home directions in Google Maps?
Follow these steps to check your daily commute.
- Open the Google Maps app and type your work address.
- Tap on Directions.
- You’ll see your route to work highlighted in three colours, indicating traffic.
Along your route, you’ll see blue, yellow and red sections which indicate no traffic, mild traffic and heavy traffic respectively. Once you’re at work, repeat the aforementioned steps but with your home address instead to see the route back.
Setting Work and home location in Google Maps
If you often check directions (and traffic) between your office and home, it’s best if you take a minute to set up your work and home locations in Google Maps. This will save you from the hassle of typing in your work and hope addresses every time you want to travel between the two locations.
Here’s how you can save your work location.
- Open Google Maps and search for Work.
- Tap on Add.
- Type your work address or point it on the map, and you’re good.
Now repeat the aforementioned process replacing Work with Home and you’ll be able to save your home location in Google Maps without a hitch.
