Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut is coming to PS4 and PS5 on August 20

Sucker Punch Productions’ action-adventure game, Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut, is finally coming to PS5 and PS4 on August 20, 2021, and is now available for pre-order.

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut will retail for US$69.99 on PS5 and US$59.99 on PS4. Those who already own the game on PS4 can upgrade to the Director’s Cut for $19.99. They can also upgrade to PS5 Director’s Cut for $29.99.

Anyone who buys the DIrector’s Cut of PS4 can upgrade to Director’s Cut for PS5 at any time by paying the $10 difference.

In addition to the original game’s content and all the additional content released to date, Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut will also include Iki Island expansion that brings a new story, mini-games, enemy types and more as the story progresses.

The new edition also features a digital mini art book, one technique point, charms of Hachiman’s favour, Hero of Tsushima skin set (golden mask, sword kit, horse, saddle) and director’s commentary. Several of these items will get unlocked as the in-game story progresses. Legends online co-op mode also comes to Playstations Plus members.

PS5 exclusive features

The Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut for PS5 also brings the following console-specific exclusive features.

  • Dynamic 4k resolution targeting 60fps (with compatible 4k display)
  • Dualsense wireless controller haptic feedback and adaptive trigger resistance
  • 3D audio (analog)
  • Lip sync for Japanese voice over
  • Ps4 progress can be transferred to PS5 version

Those who pre-order at participating retailers will get a digital mini soundtrack with tracks from the original version, two news songs from Iki island, and a digital artbook that features selected art from Ghost of Tsushima and 10 new pieces of Iki island concept art.

“We’ve been hard at work on a brand new edition of the game, which not only includes a new chapter in Jin’s journey, but also some new updates that are a direct response to some of the community’s most-requested features,” Sucker Punch Productions announced on Monday. “This new edition comes packed not only with the original game and every piece of additional content we’ve sold to date but a brand-new adventure for Jin alongside a bunch of new features that we’re excited to reveal.”

Ghost of Tsushima: Legends and other updates

New trophies will be available for the new Iki content on Director’s Cut on both PS4 and PS5.

Anyone who owns an original game copy of Ghost of Tsushima will also receive some new updates via a patch, including accessibility options for alternate controller layouts, target lock-on during combat and an option to hide the quiver during gameplay.

Sucker Punch also announced that some new updates are also coming for Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, including a new mode in the coming weeks. This update will be available at no additional charge.

The game was first launched in 2020 on PS4 and quickly became one of the more popular open-world games out there.
