Instagram is one of the most popular social media platforms in the world with millions of users around the world. In order to keep up with its users’ demands and the competition, the platform regularly keeps adding new features that bring additional functionality or enhancements to the app.
One of the most recent features that Instagram has got is the ability to comment on posts using GIFs. In this article, we’re talking about how you can comment with a GIF on Instagram and why you might not be seeing the option yet.

Commenting on Instagram using GIFs
Commenting with a GIF on Instagram is actually quite simple and follows the same process as adding a text comment.
- Tap the comment icon under the post you want to comment.
- Tap the GIF icon on the right side of the text box.
- Select the GIF you want and it’ll be sent as a comment in no time.
That’s all you need to do to comment with a GIF on Instagram. GIFs are a great way to playfully communicate and will make your comment stand out a lot more than just a sentence with emojis.
Why am I not seeing a GIF comment option?
As is the case with most Instagram updates, global rollouts take several weeks to complete. This means that while your friends and other users might get the option to comment with a GIF, that doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll get the option too.
There’s not much you can do to remedy this except wait for the rollout to complete. The feature will eventually make its way on to your Instagram app in the form of an update. Additionally, you can also try checking the Google Play Store or Apple App Store for an update to the Instagram app.
