Step 1: Select the file you want to share.

Step 2: Right-click and select the ‘Share’ option.

Step 3: This will give you the option to ‘Copy link,’ but it can only provide the link with existing share settings.

Step 4: If you want to create the link for the first time, click the ‘Share’ option.

Step 5: Click on the ‘Viewer‘ option beside anyone with the link. A dropdown menu will open up, providing various options.

For example, there are two options, ‘Restricted’ and ‘Anyone with the link‘, and you can also allow people to just view or edit the document, according to your preference.

Step 6: Then click the ‘Copy link’ button.

Step 7: Using the options given, you can add names and the type of access you want to provide. You can also tick whether you want to notify people that you are sharing the link. You can also type a personalised message.

Step 8: Click the ‘Send’ option, and your file will be shared.


Sharing the Google Drive link works the same way on mobile as it does on PC. Following the steps below will help you share your Google Drive link on mobile easily.

  • Select the file you want to share and click the ‘three dots’.
  • Tap on the ‘Share’ option.
  • You can add people you want to share the doc with and manage access.
  • Then, you can change the access to Viewer, Commenter or Editor.
  • You can copy the link by clicking on this icon and share it.
