In this article, we’re talking about Hyperbeam and telling you everything you need to know. We’ll also be going over three alternatives you can use in case Hyperbeam doesn’t work out for you.


What is Hyperbeam?

As mentioned before, Hyperbeam is a watch party program. However, unlike conventional watch party apps or extensions, it allows you to not only watch movies or content across multiple streaming platforms but also just browse the internet while maintaining mutual control. 

Hyperbeam watch party lets you share a multiplayer web browser with everyone in the party. This means that you can visit just about any website and pass control of the browser to anyone. Additionally, since Hyperbeam runs on its own servers, you don’t necessarily need a fast internet connection to stream your screen to other people in the party. 

Overall, Hyperbeam lets you create website and video playlists, save your favourite sites. has in-built voice, video and text chat supported with emojis and GIFs, all while maintaining the ability to pass around control with a single click.

Metastream

Metastream brings a lot of the features that Hyperbeam. What’s great about the app is that it lets you use most of its features without registration. Additionally, it also features an integrated web browser and video/voice calling. It’s also cross-platform, with the app being available on Mac, Windows, Linux, ChromeOS and as an extension to Chromium browsers as well as Firefox.

Streamparty is also a very similar app to Hyperbeam and Metastream, except its community-based. This means not only you can create private rooms, but also leave your rooms open to the community to join and hang out together. It supports Disney+, Joyn, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Youtube in addition to built-in voice and video chat.

Teleparty 

Teleparty (previously known as Netflix Party) is a Chromium extension that allows you to watch Netflix, HBO, Youtube, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ and Hulu with your friends. It synchronises audio and video across all members and adds text-based group chat. While it’s quite simple in terms of features offered, it works rather well and is extremely simple to use. Do keep in mind that you’ll need individual accounts to be able to use the extension.
