How to manage app permissions on Windows 10?

Windows being an operating system that runs applications has access to various hardware and software features.

Some apps or games in the Windows operating system are designed to take advantage of specific hardware or software capabilities on your Windows computer.

A photo editing app might need to use your computer’s colour calibration, or a restaurant guide might use your location to recommend nearby places.

Why would you want to manage app permissions?

The internet is still young and with lax regulations around privacy on the internet in most of the locations in the world, it’s easy for developers to just slip up or intentionally integrate permissions for its app that it doesn’t require to function.

While not all apps look for permissions that they do not require, there have been quite a few cases where apps have been found to be intruding into the user’s device. But there is a way to stop such apps from intruding your privacy without the need to delete them completely.

If you do not wish a certain app to have specific permissions in Windows 10, you can control these permissions in the Privacy tab in the Settings.

To manage app permissions in Windows follow the steps listed below:

Step 1: Click on the Windows key on your keyboard and search for the Settings icon near the bottom left corner.

Step 2: Open Settings and click on the Privacy tab.

Step 3: You will find two tabs, Windows permissions and App permissions.

Step 4: Selecting Windows permissions will enable you to control all system resources (such as the camera, microphone, or location) without further notification.
