Snapchat is one of the most popular apps on the planet with over 750 million monthly users in 2023 which is expected to reach 1 billion in a few years.

Over the years, Snapchat has gained popularity, especially with the younger generations. And for this reason, Snapchat brings on new, exciting features like Snapchat planet to further attract the youth.

In this article, we talk about everything that you want to know about the Snapchat planet.

Snapchat planet explained

Snapchat planet is a fancy way of knowing who you message the most. As there are eight planets in the solar system, you will know eight friends with whom you have interacted the most.

This feature is available on Snapchat Plus and is known as the Friends Solar System.

If you are new to geography and the universe, here are the planets by their distance from Sun:

  • Mercury
  • Venus
  • Earth
  • Mars
  • Jupiter
  • Saturn
  • Uranus
  • Neptune

Now, imagine yourself as the Sun, the centre of the solar system and the source of light to the planets. So, your closest friend on Snapchat will be Mercury and the person with whom you have talked the least will be Neptune.

Similarly, if you are Jupiter in your friend’s list, then you are in the 5th position. Keep on chatting and snapping to move up the ladder.

How to find out your or your friend’s position in the Friends Solar System?

You must remember that this service is only available for Snapchat Plus users. If you are using Snapchat Plus, you will notice a ‘Best Friends’ or ‘Friends’ badge with a golden ring. ‘Best Friends’ means that both of you are in each other’s best friend list while the golden ‘Friends’ badge means that you are in the best friends list but they are not in yours.

Just tap on the badge to see which planet is representing you. Take a look at the screenshot above to get an idea of what the badge means.

What is Snapchat Plus?

It is a monthly subscription service and offers some advanced services for its users. You also get exclusive, experimental and pre-release features.
