What causes this issue?

Various reasons might cause Snapchat voice messages not to load, and they are mentioned below:

  • Temporary system glitches.
  • Server down.
  • Using the outdated version of the app.
  • The Snapchat app doesn’t have permission to use the microphone.
  • Corrupted cache.
  • Low on storage.

How to fix the issue?

Here are seven methods to help you fix the issue:

Restart the app

Sometimes a simple app refresh is all it takes. Close Snapchat completely, force close it if necessary and then reopen it. This can clear up minor glitches that might prevent voice messages from loading. Here’s how to force stop the app:

  • Press and hold the Snapchat app icon and then in the menu tap on the i icon at the top right corner of the menu.
  • Tap on the Force stop button.

Check the server status

Sometimes, Snapchat servers are out of order due to maintenance issues or traffic outages. In such a scenario, you may need to check the server status to fix the Snapchat voice message not loading issue.

The easiest way to check the server status is via Downdetector, a third-party website. Open Downdetector and then search Snapchat. If there is any server issue, you will see.

You can also check the social media pages of Snapchat for the latest information about the latest server outage.

Check app permissions

Snapchat needs certain permissions for optimal performance. So, check the app’s in-app permissions to ensure that the microphone permission is on.

In case, you have denied the microphone permission, here’s how to fix it:

  • Tap and press the Snapchat app icon and then the menu tap on the i icon at the top right corner of the menu.
  • Tap on the Permissions option.
  • Check if the Microphone option is in the allowed section or not allowed. If it’s in the not allowed section, then allow it.

Update Snapchat

Sometimes, an outdated Snapchat app can cause various functional disruptions, including the voice message not working issue. Update the app from the Playstore.

Clear Snapchat cache

Overtime, the cache files of Snapchat might get corrupted causing issues with the proper functioning of the app.

Cache files are small files that save your most-used app featurs so that the next time you use the app, these features are loaded quickly.

You can try to delete Snapchat cache files to fix various issues. Here’s how to do this:

Clear using the app settings:

  • Open the Snapchat app on your phone and tap on the Profile icon at the top left corner of the screen.
  • On your profile page, tap on the Settings (Gear) icon at the top right corner of the screen.
  • In settings, scroll and tap on the Clear Cache option.

Clear using the phone setting:

Free up storage

Snapchat downlaods the voice messages that you receive automatically on your phone. So if you dont have enough space to save the voice messages then it might show you this error. Delete some photos or videos from your phone and clear app cache. Also you can shift some of your data to the cloud.
