The free-to-play NFT fantasy sports game Sorare has partnered with the English Premier League and licensed league assets for Sorare: Football, offered as digital cards that fans can collect, buy, sell and trade.
The multi-year licensing deal will allow Sorare to offer cards for every player in the 20 clubs from EPL. This adds to its existing partnerships with over 300 football clubs and teams worldwide, including La Liga, Bundesliga, MLS, Eredivisie, SuperLig and Serie A. There is no cost to sign-up or play the game.
The Premier League gameplay will be similar to the existing ones in Sorare: Football. including five-player lineups and bi-weekly Game Week schedules. Announcing the partnership, Sorare also launched new gameplay features, including league-specific competitions, draft-based gameplay and capped-mode competitions.
“The way that supporters follow their favourite teams and players is evolving and the Premier League is always looking for ways to engage with fans. Sorare’s digital cards and innovative online game represent a new way for them to feel closer to the Premier League whether they are watching in the stadium or from around the world. We believe that Sorare are the ideal partner for the Premier League and we look forward to working closely together,” said Richard Masters, Chief Executive of the Premier League.
Sorare raised a $680 million Series B round in September 2021 and has since established relationships with the most popular football leagues in Europe and North America. Sorare also offers similar fantasy-based games for NBA and MLB.
The French gaming startup also partnered with 18 national football teams to launch Sorare: Global Cup 22′ during the World Cup, which boosted traction as the game funelled over half a million sign-ups to the company.
