Adobe says Illustrator and InDesign will run natively on M1 Macs

Adobe Illustrator and Indesign now run natively on Macs powered by Apple’s M1 silicon and get a significant overall performance boost compared to Intel builds.

Illustrator sees a 65% boost in performance on M1 Macs, and Indesign gets a 59% boost, which will help the apps launch faster and improving tool efficiency. The update would start rolling out to customers globally on Tuesday.

People will be able to launch and create documents in Illustrator four times faster. The scroll performance has improved by 390%, and opening a new file with approximately 31 complex artboards is 119% faster.

Rotate Canvas for Stylus is coming to Illustrator in the future release

Adobe is also working on a future release for Illustrator, which will bring improvements for the stylus, including a feature that mirrors Rotate Canvas in Illustrator on iPad. As a result, consumers will be able to rotate the canvas to the best-suited angle for drawing.

The feature could be handy for people who need to orient graphics or create paths at specific angles across the canvas. It will also be useful for package designers as they can rotate dielines right-side-up to design.
