Apple has launched an official MagSafe battery pack, available for $99 (INR 10,900), for the iPhone 12 lineup. The wireless battery pack can be ordered through Apple’s website.

Apple MagSafe battery pack is compatible with iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. The magnetic battery charges automatically when stuck to the back, and the company says it won’t interfere with credit cards or key fobs.

The battery pack will charge the iPhone at up to 5W of power wirelessly. If it’s connected to a 20W or higher power source, it’ll be able to charge the device at 15W. It can be charged with a Lightning to USB cable with a 20W or higher power adapter — the light indicator will turn amber when charging and green when it’s fully charged.

According to Apple’s support page, MagSafe-compatible iPhone should be running iOS 14.7 or newer. However, 14.7 is currently in beta and hasn’t been released as a public update yet, but it should be rolled out by the time MagSafe’s are delivered or soon thereafter.

The Apple MagSafe battery will attach to the back of the phone using the magnets and can be removed by simply pulling it off.

While Apple hasn’t officially disclosed any information about the MagSafe battery pack’s ability to charge other devices, if it works like its counterpart wireless charger, Airpods and other Qi wireless charging devices might be compatible too.
