Apple’s smart home IP cameras might hit the market in 2026

Apple is planning to produce a smart home IP camera, which is expected to be launched in 2026. The Chinese electronics manufacturer Goertek will be the exclusive assembly supplier for this new product line. In the long term, Apple aims to ship over 10 million units annually.

The tech giant’s latest move marks its first entry into the IP camera market. The smart home IP camera is designed to integrate with Apple’s extensive product ecosystem.

The device will connect wirelessly with Apple hardware such as iPhones, iPads, and Macs while leveraging Apple’s voice assistant, Siri, and their intelligence capabilities embedded across the Apple ecosystem, reports researcher Ming-Chi Kuo). This integration is expected to simplify users’ smart home setup process, allowing them to manage security and surveillance from their existing Apple devices effortlessly.

Apple’s entry into the IP camera market could disrupt the landscape. Currently, the global smart home IP camera market ships between 30 and 40 million units annually. The global smart home surveillance market is rising rapidly, and Apple seems to be capturing this vast market. Given Apple’s reputation for product design and seamless integration, the company’s latest move will raise user expectations.

Apple has yet to reveal detailed specifications of the new camera. However, Apple’s focus on privacy and security, many anticipate that Apple’s device will include end-to-end encryption and a range of privacy-focused features.

Furthermore, the IP camera is expected to be a high-quality addition to the HomeKit ecosystem.
