Audible Suno launched in India: A free audio service featuring 60+ originals

Amazon has launched Audible Suno, a free-to-use ad-free audio service that will feature more than 60 original audio shows at the time of launch in both Hindi and English starring Bollywood and TV show actors, comedians and authors, among other influencers.

India houses one of the biggest audiences worldwide on the internet and Amazon has been moving fast to grab the attention of the said audience. They’ve already decreased the market share of Flipkart and others in the Indian e-commerce market, and have also started grocery delivery in major cities — rivalling companies like Grofers and Big Basket.

Audible Suno will be available alongside the paid Audible app that offers audiobooks for a monthly subscription fee of INR 199 after a three-month trial of Prime members.

Audible Suno is available to download for Android devices running OS version 4.4 and newer via the Google Play Store. iOS users can access the free Audible Suno content via the Audible app.

“Audible Suno is a world-first for Audible and reflects our commitment to creating exceptional entertainment for our Indian customers. I’ve always been passionate about the transformative power of the spoken word, and I’m delighted to be able to offer this breadth of famous voices and culturally resonant genres with unlimited access, ad-free and free of charge,” said Audible founder and CEO Don Katz.

At the time of launch, Audible Suno’s content varies from horror and suspense to romance and comedy as well as interviews and socially relevant series, among others.

Celebrities featuring on Audible Suno include the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif, Karan Johar, Farhan Akhtar, Anil Kapoor, Mouni Roy, Anurag Kashyap, Tabu, Diljit Dosanjh, Vir Das, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Abish Mathew and Vicky Kaushal, among several others.

“Since its founding, Audible has worked in service of a singular purpose: to ignite the power of sound to entertain, inspire and move listeners, which we will now further with the launch of an India-first offering — Audible Suno,” said Shailesh Sawlani, VP, Country Manager India, Audible.
