Twitter is a popular social media platform where you can voice your thoughts in the form of a tweet. It has been known to provide a safe space for people to speak out, protest, follow and participate in movements. You can follow many personalities and groups, as well as get updated on the statistics of your favourite football team on Twitter.
In this article, we will discuss whether other people like your followers can see your search history on Twitter as well as how to erase your search history and stop Twitter from collecting your data.

Search history: Visible or invisible?
You can search for anything on Twitter from radical communities, pictures, funny memes, or NSFW content to anything of your desire in this Pandora’s box of people with their own opinions and groups. However, if you have a lot of followers or a public account, can your followers peek into your search history? Not really. Despite the outlook of Twitter, a place where you can be vocal about your thoughts, Twitter does not allow anyone to breach your privacy. Although, if you have shared your login credentials or your device with someone, then they can view your search history.
Search history remains invisible from the public domain
Your followers can view your posts, tweets, retweets, mentions, photos, replies, and videos. Additionally, if you have a non-privately enabled list, this can be viewed by your followers or by the public in case your profile is set to public. Twitter does not notify you if someone is visiting your profile, hence if you want to keep your information private, you can remove your profile from the public domain.

Who can view your search history?
Twitter can view your search history as it saves all of your data. This is done to help Twitter manage your content preferences. Twitter collects data about your personal and professional information depending on the type of account. If you have used one of Twitter’s products or services, they will also collect your card information. A large revenue for any social media platform or website comes from targeted advertisements. Twitter further collects the following information:
- They keep a track of the number of devices used to sign in or when you are using a browser or any other apart from your usual browser.
- Twitter tries to form your identity with the content that you are viewing or if you have interacted with their product or service even when you are not signed in. They collect your log information including your IP address, browser type, language, operating system, the referring webpage, number of times accessed, pages visited, location, mobile carrier, and device information.
- When you click on a Twitter icon or an embedded link on a third-party website, information will be collected about the web page.
Erasing your activity
You erase your Twitter search history by clicking on your search bar when you open Twitter on your browser and press on the Clear all or a cross sign in front of the searched name to separately remove a search. Clearing your search history does not bar Twitter from collecting your data. To place a permanent stoppage on Twitter from collecting your information and personalising your content follow the steps given below:

- Click on the profile icon
- Go to Settings & Support -> Settings and privacy
- Select Privacy and safety.

- Scroll down and toggle the following individual options under Data sharing and personalisation.
