How to change phone number in Gmail?

Gmail is a cloud-based mail delivery service owned by Google. In some instances, users are required to enter their phone numbers while registering on Google, like to enable SMS-based 2FA or for recovery if you forget your account’s password. You might need to change phone numbers in case you’re shifting cities, countries or shifting to another telecom provider.

Gmail allows you to change the number — on the app as well as on the web. In this article, we will explain how you can change the phone number in Gmail.

On Android

Follow the steps given below.

  • Open the Gmail app.
  • On the top left corner, tap on the menu button (which looks like three parallel lines).
  • In the drop-down menu, select the Settings option, and then tap on Manage your Google Account and choose an account. (In case, you have multiple Gmail accounts).

  • After selecting the account, tap on Personal Info, located beside the Home option.
  • Slide below and tap on Phone number option where you will see the phone number along with the date of verification.
  • On the new window, tap on the three dots that are shown on the side of the phone number and then tap on Edit.
  • Enter the password, after which you will be redirected to the previous page again.
  • Again, click on the three-dot and then on the Edit option.
